Hundreds of adult learners, voluteer tutors and lit-eracy advocates, along with Secretary of State Jesse White, took part in the Chicago LiteracyCoalitions' "Night of 1,000 Stars" events this spring. The programs give adult learners theopportunity to shine by talking about their personal experiences and triumphs, or showcasing theirliteracy skills by reading poem they wrote, or someone else's work. More than people attended the South SideLiteracy Coalition's event at Faith Community of St. Sabina in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.The North Side and West Side Literacy Coalitions held combined event for the first time, withabout participants in attendance
