Ken Beauvais and Jim Wellman of theoutreach team recently visited Factory Muffler Complete Auto and metwith Noah Zafrir, the shop owner. "My success comes fromhaving diagnostic strategy, and taking control of my customers andmy REI (Repair Effectiveness Index). My shop isn't partsreplacer," Noah said. Noah has diagnostic procedure that he uses,and he does not deviate from it. His methods are not much differentfrom those of many of the other shops that have high REI.When vehicle is brought in for an emissions repair, the customer ischarged for one hour of diagnostic time and is told what is necessaryto complete full repair. If customer does not agree to therepairs, Noah simply tells him/her to take the vehicle somewhere else.So
