.I am pleased to present the 2004 Illinois DUI Fact Book, which provides facts and statistical information about Illinois laws to combat drunk driving. In 2002, more than 51,000 people were arrested for drinking and driving in Illinois. My office continues to work with judges, prosecutors and victim advocate groups to educate the public on the social, economic and physical effects of drinking and driving. Toward that effort, my office has established new DUI awareness program called "Get The Point!" This program provides posters, payroll inserts, speakers and displays to businesses and organizations throughout the state to promote awareness about drinking and driving and Illinois' BAC laws. toll-free Traffic Safety Hotline also has been established for those persons and organizations interested in participating in the program and for additional information. look forward to continuing to work with the people of this state to ensure the safety of Illinois citizens on our roadways.
