Commissioner's Message This year, 2009, marks our 15th year as member of the Inter-national Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). IFTA is the motor fuel use tax program we administer for Illinois-based interstate motor carriers. Illinois began participating in this program in 1994 with the intent to simplify your motor fuel licensing and tax reporting obligations. Dur-ing the past years, we have reduced the tax fi ling burden for our Illinois-based fi lers, and have improved both taxpayer compliance and customer service.
