After losing his Moline residence for failure to pay real estate taxes, this homeowner filed petition in 2004, seeking approximately $54,895.52 from the Rock Island County tax deed indemnity fund. The circuit court granted summary judgment to the county treasurer, finding that the owner was not equitably entitled to compensation, and the appellate court affirmed. In this decision, the Illinois Supreme Court agreed with the results below, holding that the circuit court did not err in finding that the owner was not equitably entitled to compensation from the fund.
