.NEWS from the Illinois House of Representatives FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR MORE INFORMATION September 6, 2007 Steve Brown (217) 782-0109 Illinois Lawmakers Next Week to Begin Series of Statewide Hearings on Blagojevich's Budget Savagery; Seek to Build Veto Override Support SPRINGFIELD In response to the extraordinary public outcry from groups around the state who have asked for the opportunity to build support for an override of the governor's budget vetoes, series of bipartisan public hearings will be held to allow the victims of the cuts to show the harm that will be caused to their abilities to provide services and complete important projects. The governor's decision to seek political vengeance on those who refused to support several of his poorly crafted legislative proposals this year by slashing crucial funds for health care, schools, emergency response, senior citizen services, transportation infrastructure, job training and economic development will be detailed at the hearings
