.Fall 2005 Vol. In August 2004, Public Act 093-0867 was passed reconstituting the African-AmericanFamily Commission as the Illinois African-American Family Commission. This act restructured and empowered the Commission to assist various state agencies to improve and expandexisting human services and educational and community development programs for AfricanAmericans. The African-American Family Commission was originallycreated in 1994 to assist the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in developing and implementingprograms relevant to African-American families.
