Funded by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services MISSION STATEMENT Fiscal year 2001 was period of transition for the African-American Family Commission as we continued to advocate for public policies that have positive impact upon the lives of African-American families in Illinois. As co-chairs, we have been deeply affected by the changes on the global stage and their very real impacton our lives and on the lives of African-American families that we have promised to serve and represent. The events of September 11thhave created pause for thought in this country for its leaders and its citizenry.
