On January 24, 2000, the attorney who is the plaintiff here was rendered paraplegic after he was shot by man with whom he had previously been involved in car-wash venture. The shooter's loss of his investment interest in this business activity had been blamed by him on the victim. Two other men who had been participants in the venture were named as defendants in this Cook County lawsuit brought by the victim, in which he sought to recover on the basis of threats concerning the victim which the two men allegedly knew about, but did not warn of.
