Haas Appellate citation: Ill. App. 3d 692. JUSTICE FREEMAN delivered the judgment of the court, with opinion. Justices Fitzgerald, Kilbride, Garman, Karmeier, and Burke concurred in the judgment and opinion. Chief Justice Thomas took no part in the decision. Procedural issues in the pretrial discovery process in civil litigation are addressed in this decision. Two companies that deal with point-of-sale equipment which relays information from retail customer checkout stations to centralized inventory management systems are involved here, as is one of their employees. The companies sell and refurbish such used equipment. Plaintiff Vision Point filed suit in the circuit court of Cook County in 2004, alleging that defendant Legacy Inc. stole its customer lists after hiring one of Vison Point's former employees,
