.Effective August 2, 2001, changes to the Motor Fuel Tax Law now include penalties for the use of dyed diesel in recreational-type watercraft. The change in the law now provides for specific penalties for selling, possessing, or using dyed diesel fuel in recreational-type watercraft on Illinois waters and waterways. What penalties do face ifI sell dyed diesel for use in recreational-typewatercraft? If you knowingly sell or attempt to selldyed diesel fuel for use in recreational-type watercraft on Illinoiswaters you will be guilty of Class felony. Each subsequent offense willbecome Class felony. Any licensed motor fuel distributor orlicensed supplier who sells or attempts to sell dyed diesel fuel for use in arecreational-type watercraft on Illinois waters shall be required to pay apenalty of $5,000 for first occurrence and $10,000 for each subsequent occurrence.
