.The Illinois State Library hosted one of its most successful Illinois Authors Book Fair weekends March 26-27. More than supporters attended the Friday night dinner honoring participating authors. Featured authors Erik Larson, Elizabeth Berg, Robert Hartley and Catherine Gourley addressed an enthusiastic audience. Proceeds from the dinner go to the Illinois Center for the Book and used for additions to the Illinois Authors Collection in the State Library, among other things. On Saturday, nearly 4,000 patrons visited the book fair, enjoying panel discussions and author workshops, raffle and silent auction, an onsite bookstore and book appraisals. Children were entertained by storytellers, face painting, puppet-making, crafts, clowns, balloons and Toby Tire, Secretary of State Jesse White's animated tire that teaches bus safety. Children also had their photos taken with the Easter Bunny. State Library Director Jean Wilkins noted that many fairgoers had never set foot in the State Librar
