This report by the staff of the Illinois Commerce Commission is an overview of ICC activities relative to the transportation of hazardous materials by rail within the State, which was prepared in accordance with the provisions of 625 ILCS 5/18c-1204, which directs the Commission to prepare and distribute to the General Assembly ... a report on railway accidents in Illinois which involve hazardous materials. The law also provides that the report shall include the location, substance involved, amounts involved, and the suspected reason for each accident, as well as the rail line and point or origin of the hazardous material involved in each accident.
