2004 Summary of Drug Enforcement Activities Across Illinois' Metropolitan Enforcement Groups and Task Forces
The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authoritys Research and Analysis Unit has received funds under the federal Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 to document the extent and nature of drug and violent crime in Illinois and the criminal justice systems response to these offenses.This profile is intended to provide a general overview of the drug and violent crime problem in the jurisdictions covered by Illinois Metropolitan Enforcement Groups (MEGs) and task forces, and the response to these problems by the units.

2005 Case Report: and Cumulative Report of Illinois Statutes Held Unconstitutional (2005, covering 2005)
The annual case reports prepared by the Illinois Legislative Reference Bureau "review all reported decisions of the Federal courts, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the Illinois Appellate Court that affect the interpretation of the Illinois Constitution or statutes" (25 ILCS 135/5.05). Thus, (i) only those decisions making a significant constitutional or statutory interpretation are reviewed and (ii) the focus of those cases that are reviewed is on that constitutional or statutory interpretation and may not include a complete analysis of the decision. Developing Profiles of Violent Offenders and Identifying Groups of Violent Offenders at High Risk of Recidivism and Treatment Failure
The report examines and develops profiles of violent offenders sentenced to probation across the state of Illinois. It identifies groups of violent offenders who are at a high risk of recidivism and treatment failure. The data used come from a 2000 data collection effort by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) in collaboration with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC).

Disproportionate Incarceration of African Americans for Drug Crimes: The Illinois Perspective (covers 2000)
In their 2000 study, the Human Rights Watch found that Illinois ranked first in the country with respect to Black-White disparities in prison sentences for drug crimes. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority awarded a small grant to TASC for a preliminary investigation of racial disproportionality in sentencing for drug crimes. The current report is the third in a series of publications that highlight the disproportionate incarceration of African Americans for drug crimes in Illinois. The purpose of the current report is to describe the results of analyses of statewide data in order to test whether Human Rights Watchs findings on disproportionality were replicable and to consider a few hypotheses thatsuggest explanations for the arrest and imprisonment data and provide a basis for future discussions of remedies for racial sentencing disparities.

Guide to Understanding Criminal Background Check Information
The Bureau of Identification (BOI) is the state central repository for criminal records. The BOIs primary function is to collect, maintain and disseminate criminal history record information (CHRI). Criminal history record information maintained by the BOI consists of information reported by Illinois criminal justice agencies summarizing an individuals contacts with the criminal justice system. An individual's CHRI transcript, commonly referred to as a rapsheet, consists of personal identification information such as name, sex, race, and date of birth, as well as other physical characteristics. Transcripts include a cumulative record of arrests, states attorney dispositions, court dispositions, sentence information and custodial data. This publication explains how to request a CHRI and how to interpret the information when received.
